Roofing & Exterior Services in Northeast Ohio
Our Wadsworth office at 1197 High Street covers Medina, Summit and Wayne counties, and reaches Stark, Cuyahoga and Lorain comfortably.

Lake Effect Changes the Maths
The lake does two things to roofs up here. It adds snow load — considerably more of it than central Ohio sees, and concentrated in bands that can hit one town hard and skip the next. And it drags out the freeze-thaw season, because the moisture keeps coming long after the temperature has settled into its winter pattern.
More cycles means more opportunities for water to work into a seam and expand. It is the main reason roofs in Summit and Cuyahoga counties tend to reach the end of their service life earlier than the same shingle on the same house would in Franklin County.
Ice Dams Are the Regional Specialty
Snow sits on a roof. Heat escaping from an under-insulated attic melts the underside of it. The meltwater runs down to the overhang, which is cold because there is no house under it, and refreezes into a ridge of ice at the eave.
The next melt hits that dam, backs up, and finds its way under the shingles — which are designed to shed water running down, not water sitting still and pushing up. The leak appears on a bedroom ceiling in February with no storm to blame.
The fix is almost never new shingles. It is ice-and-water shield at the eaves, intake ventilation at the soffit, and attic insulation that keeps the deck cold. We check all three on every inspection up here.

Old Housing Stock
Akron, Cleveland, Canton, Barberton and Massillon have a great deal of pre-1950 housing — steep pitches, cut-up rooflines, dormers, and originals that were slate or tile. Parma alone has an enormous stock of post-war bungalows and capes on tight lots where access and dumpster placement genuinely affect the job.
These are slower, more skilled jobs than a modern subdivision roof, and they get quoted differently for good reason.

Common Questions
More freeze-thaw cycles and more snow load than the rest of the state. The shingle is the same; the number of times it gets stressed each winter is not.
Usually, but not by replacing shingles. It takes ice-and-water shield at the eaves, working intake ventilation, and adequate attic insulation. We look at all three rather than just quoting a roof.
Yes. Bear in mind Cleveland has its own permit process and lead-safe requirements on older homes, which we handle as part of the job.
